Having witnessed our away game with Newark earlier in the season I speculatd as to what might happen this fixture.  At Newark we were 20pts down in as many minutes but produced a spectacular comeback to win 41 pts ato 25. Would history repeat itself or would it be a different story?

From the start both teams looked evenly matched.  As a result of strong play we were awarded a penalty which Carless scored to put us on our way.  Soon after, however, Newark put some fine play together and within minutes had scored two tries.  With the score at 3 - 14 our strong play saw us awarded a penalty, 6 - 14.  Another Newark try put the score at 6 - 21 after thirty minutes.  Was the tide turning against us?  Just before half time excellent line possession and ball control by Pitt, Carless and Nunney produced a try which was converted and minutes later a penalty score brought us back into contention 16 - 21 at half time.

Our play in the second half continued in the same vein and it wasn't long before line out possession, accurate passing, strong running and support allowed Nunney to score a further try to push us in front 23- 21.  from then on the efforts of all our players produced some exciting play with Nunney, Perkins, Christoffersen, and Carless bringing our score to 37 - 29.  Newark having picked up points from an unconverted try and a penalty to our 2 more tries.  The final play saw Perkins make a strong 30 metre run which resulted in a scrum near the Newark try line and from the scrum Perkins was quick off the mark to score a try that resulted in the final score 42 pts to 29 pts. A scorelie that mirrored the earlier away result and one could say that it was "Never ni Doubt"!

Our score line was tantamount to the disciplined play, support and efforts of all our players involved in this game.  I feel a bit mean not naming them all.  However, the un-named were as important and involved as those named and your efforts are applauded.

With the end of the season in sight I think we should say thank you to our coaches for guiding us through difficult times, resulting from some indiscipline and unavailability but mainly from player injuries and for each game bringing a team blend that has maintained our status and reputation  Your expertise is much appreciated.

Finally a big Thank You to iour supporters who turn up and make every game a pleasant social experience for members and visitors in attendance.

Thank you all!
